SNAP-8 (10 mg Vial) Dosage Protocol
SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a topical cosmetic peptide modeled on part of SNAP-25, studied for expression-line reduction. This is a TOPICAL research peptide โ used in creams, serums, or dissolving microneedle patches at 0.0015%โ0.005% active concentration. Not intended for injection.

Dosing & Reconstitution Guide
Route: Topical | Frequency: Topical formulation only | Half-life: N/A (topical)
Standard Approach (1 mL = 1.00 mg/mL)
Reconstituting with 1 mL bacteriostatic water produces a concentration of 1.00 mg/mL. Volume per dose changes with concentration; mg dose itself does not change between vial sizes.
| Phase / Protocol | Dose | U-100 Units | Volume | Doses per vial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Topical cream โ 200 g batch | 10 mg | 1000 units | 10.00 mL | 1 doses |
| Topical cream โ 333 g batch | 10 mg | 1000 units | 10.00 mL | 1 doses |
| Topical cream โ 667 g batch | 10 mg | 1000 units | 10.00 mL | 1 doses |
Reconstitution Steps
- Wipe the vial stopper and BAC water vial with alcohol; let dry.
- Draw 1 mL of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
- Inject slowly down the inside glass wall of the peptide vial. Do not aim at the powder.
- Gently swirl until fully dissolved. Do not shake.
- Label with reconstitution date. Refrigerate at 2โ8ยฐC; use within 0 days.
Supplies Needed
Estimates for an 8-week and 12-week cycle at 10 mg per dose, topical formulation only (7 doses/week).

| Alcohol swabs | 1 ร 100-pack | 2 ร 100-pack |
Protocol Overview
SNAP-8 is a topical cosmetic peptide โ not injectable. It is formulated into creams, serums, or dissolving microneedle patches at 0.0015%โ0.005% active concentration.
The most-cited manufacturer reference uses ~0.005% (50 ppm) active peptide applied twice daily around the eye area for 28 days, reporting ~35% mean wrinkle-depth reduction. Most peer-reviewed studies combine SNAP-8 with other actives, so isolated SNAP-8 effect is difficult to determine.
Dosing Protocol
โ TOPICAL formulation only โ do not inject.
Formulate the 10 mg vial into a validated cream, gel, or serum base:
- 200 g final batch (0.005% / 50 ppm): Use whole 10 mg vial. Best-documented manufacturer reference.
- 333 g final batch (0.003% / 30 ppm): Mid-range reference.
- 667 g final batch (0.0015% / 15 ppm): Lower developer reference.
Small-batch examples: 30 g batch at 0.005% = 1.5 mg SNAP-8; 50 g at 0.005% = 2.5 mg.
Application: Twice daily around target area (eye area typical) for 28+ days for measurable effect.
Formulation notes: Requires a preserved cosmetic base with documented preservation system. Do not equate patch/serum/cream vehicles โ delivery efficiency differs.
Storage Instructions
| State | Temperature | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized | โ20ยฐC (โ4ยฐF) | Up to 24 months, dry & dark |
| Reconstituted | 2โ8ยฐC (35โ46ยฐF) | Up to 0 days, protect from light |
Important Notes
How This Works
SNAP-8 is acetyl octapeptide-3, an eight-amino-acid peptide modeled on part of SNAP-25 (sequence Ac-EEMQRRAD-NH2). The proposed cosmetic mechanism is interference with SNARE-complex assembly and calcium-dependent exocytosis, which may reduce muscle contraction responsible for expression lines. Direct mechanism data are primarily developer-generated. Distinct from Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8).
Potential Benefits & Side Effects
Potential Benefits
- ~35% mean and 63% max wrinkle-depth reduction (manufacturer 28-day panel, 0.005% cream twice daily).
- Improvements in fine lines and hydration when combined with other actives in microneedle patches or serums.
Side Effect Profile
- Generally well-tolerated topically.
- Independent SNAP-8 effect isolated only in the manufacturer panel โ most published studies combine with other peptides.
Lifestyle Factors
- Consistent daily application for 28+ days for measurable effect.
- Photograph target area with consistent lighting for research documentation.
Injection Technique
- โ TOPICAL ONLY. Do not inject.
- Formulate into a preserved cream, gel, or serum base at 0.0015%โ0.005% active concentration.
- Apply twice daily around target area.
